The New "Old" Favorite - Happy House

Growing up, my siblings and I are used to having cookies and biscuits at home. It was usually stored in a big Tupperware container in my parents’ room. A very strategic place because usually if we bought it on a Saturday, everything will be gone the very next day. Having five kids in the house sure is expensive.

One biscuit I particularly like is the Happy House biscuits. It is actually a favorite amongst the family. We enjoy the creamy flavor of the biscuit. Usually, this was the first to be gone even though my mom would buy more than just one pack. I can’t remember the last time I tasted Happy House, I think the manufacturer closed down years back.

I was on my way home from the office last Friday when I thought of buying snacks for the weekend. Usually I would go for junk foods but as I will be having a pre-employment check-up for my new employer this coming week, I settled for a healthier snack. As I walked towards the aisle of foods I was actually thinking of buying mamon tostado and butter cookies but both were unavailable. Grabbing a few packs of biscuits and placing them in my basket half-heartedly, my tummy still craves for my mamon tostado, I almost jumped in excitement! There in the farthest corner is a pack I’ve known as a child. Happy House biscuits are back! There were only three packs on the rack and I quickly grabbed two of it. Upon close inspection, it is named Honey House. I’m not sure if it is actually the same as Happy House. Walking towards the cashier, my eye caught another familiar package. The wafer I’ve known before Nissin wafer, Island Biscuit Chocolate Wafer! I picked a pack and directly walked to the cashier. Nostalgia for these foods is so much to take!

The first thing I did when I got home was to take pictures of my new found “old” favorites. The three pictures I took were sufficient enough for me, excitement got the better of me, and then I took on munching my food. Honey House tasted like Happy House, though the latter as I remember was creamier. Honey House must be the revival of the Happy House biscuits, but why name it differently?! Same packaging, same look, same taste. Oh well, at least it’s back. I munch on three Honey House biscuits before finally deciding on opening the wafer. Taking the Island Biscuit Chocolate Wafer, this is definitely the same old thing. Nothing new about it, even the packaging. Taste-wise, I can’t actually remember what it tasted like before. I think I’ve gotten too used to Nissin wafer. Not too bad but I might still stick with my Nissin wafer. My excitement over the wafer quickly faded, then I resumed eating my Honey House. I ate 6 of the 10 in my first pack then stacked the rest in my personal container. As of this writing, none remained of my Honey House. Too bad I didn’t took the other pack in the supermarket. I’ll definitely be scouring the nearby supermarket in the office for another pack! Gotta love my Honey House!

‘Til next time girls!
